  Happy New Year!!
Posted by: Renegade - 01.01.2006, 06:04:02 - Forum: Propaganda Tower - No Replies

As the title says Big Grin

Although it looks like America is once again behind the rest of the World...still stuck in 2005 over there Tongue (East Coast has one hour left)

Oh well, let's hope 2006 will see some kind of community revival...with great mods, new discoveries and less EA-scum. Perhaps the decade pack can help a little there...

I for my part plan to bring TD:SE from alpha to final this year, to restructure my web framework, and to finally include the last missing INI-flags into ModEnc.
In addition, I've started learning C++, and when at some point I got some usable skillz in it, I'll of course join the ranks of our beloved tools-coders.

How about you guys?

P.S.: This is the copy.

As most of you doubtlessly noticed, this whole network was unreachable last week. That was a DNS problem, because the host moved their nameservers, and has been resolved.

However, STX is still unreachable for some unknown reason. I am aware of that, but there is nothing I can do about it.

  Skin + More
Posted by: Renegade - 19.08.2005, 20:12:44 - Forum: Propaganda Tower - No Replies

DCoder's work while I was gone kinda motivated me, so I worked around the forums a bit...found the RA TechCenter? Forums skin online, and as it is exactly what I was going to do anyway, installed it. Right now I'm uploading a bigger smiley-set (I love smilies Big Grin), and I'll see what kind of actual code-mods I can find. So don't be confused if stuff suddenly changes here while you visit.

Oh, and ignore the old header until I did a custom one Wink

Wink Some custom BBCode
Posted by: DCoder - 15.08.2005, 15:09:51 - Forum: Propaganda Tower - Replies (1)

Since I'm an admin, I might as well do something useful Tongue

Code:
[modenc=subject]title[/modenc]
Creates a link to a ModEnc page titled "Subject", and entitles the link "title".

Code:
[enc]subject[/enc]
Creates a link to a ModEnc page called "Subject", and entitles the link "ModEnc - Subject".

Examples:

Code:
[modenc=[url=http://www.modenc.renegadeprojects.com/RTFM]RTFM[/url]]Newbie's guide to modding[/modenc]
RTFM[/url]]Newbie's guide to modding

Code:
[enc][url=http://www.modenc.renegadeprojects.com/RTFM]RTFM[/url][/enc]
[enc]RTFM[/enc]

(Note: Use underscores instead of spaces in "subject", it's a Wiki thing.)

On the same note, I'll be (hopefully) doing some modding on this forum and ModEnc once I finish this reallife house remodelling thing my parents are doing. So, if you have any suggestions related to that, speak now Wink

Edit: Edited a bit, correction in blue.

  Recent downtime
Posted by: DCoder - 12.07.2005, 07:25:10 - Forum: Propaganda Tower - Replies (1)

As you all obviously noticed, there was a three day downtime recently. The host was having hardware problems. It's all fixed now.

Oh, if you're wondering:

Renegade Wrote:The hosting is paid for, and that I'll get us our own server asap. They [=you all] don't need to worry.

The most important info, including ModEnc, is also backed up daily just in case.

Let's hope they finally find the issue and fix it.

  E-Mail to the Host
Posted by: Renegade - 02.05.2005, 21:49:27 - Forum: Propaganda Tower - Replies (1)

I sent this mail to our host a minute ago. I'll post the follow-ups, if there are any. Post on their forums from the 29th says they were under heavy fire from some DDoS-attack. But that was three days ago, and it'd be continuous, if that was still the case. As you might tell, I'm rather pissed off by them right now.

Renegade Wrote:You know, it's invoice day soon.
But right now, I'm pretty fucking reluctant to pay. 'cause the server was just down again.
It's time you finally fix that machine, or I'm gone. It can't be that within the course of five days, the server goes down eight or more times. Period.

In addition, even if you finally get that piece of junk to stay up, you seriously need to change your attitude towards customers. On one hand, you claim your support to be soooo great that "many companies choose to outsource thier support to us." - yet on the other hand, you don't even notify your very own customers when the server goes down or care to give an explanation for it. Your last post in the news is almost a year old. Your posts in the forums only come when customers demand to know wtf is going on. So even if the server stays up, and even if it wasn't your fault (again), I expect you to show some interest in your customers in the feature. You may not care about us, but I have to explain other people why their website is unreachable. And I'd like an explanation myself. This cannot go on.

If it's easy enough to send everyone a nice "We expect your payment on day X"-email, you can't tell me it's too hard to send everyone a mail "This is why the server was down".

Hoping it changes
Charly

P.S.: That typo in the quote is really there. And there's still dozens of dead/worthless links on the page. For months now. You might want to fix that.

Just wanted to let you all know I'm still alive... work's been crazy. REN, when the next beta comes out send it to me and I'll host it like I have 4.0b and previous versions. 760+ downloads of the current beta ;-)

Peace,

As usual, my host didn't tell me wtf was going on. I know the board was down, I send an e-mail to them saying "please fix it", now it's back up. That's all I know. Shift eyes
