BUG
I wasn't able to update to LB Beta 0011, after downloadig and starting it told me that LB is still running (which was wrong). Maybe I can download and install manually?
08.10.2007, 23:37:30
video section in LBMC works the same as XCCMC - all files here will be placed loose in the RA2 folder.
"LB already running" - Renegade had this error too. I think it's simply that the installer (intermittently) starts before the LB mutex is closed. I can fix this and will do so for 0012. In the meantime, you should find that LaunchBase\Setups contains LB_Setup.exe - run this to install 0011.

I wonder if it's possible to replace one of the .exe files by adding another one with the same name to the video section. Image how easy it would to to apply viruses (e.g. if someone' hp has been hacked and the cracker replaces the .upd file)
You should also add an option to scan downloaded mods with a virus program.
09.10.2007, 10:30:30
The upd files are maintained by the author of the mod. If a hacker can replace a upd file to point somewhere else, then they could also just as easily replace/infect the exe file. Not much I can do about that.
If you have a decent virus scanner that performs on-access scanning then there shouldn't be a problem.

Marshall Wrote:If you have a decent virus scanner that performs on-access scanning then there shouldn't be a problem.I'm not speaking of myself, because I prepared myself already for such attacks. This was spoken as beta tester for guys that don't know the difference between shp and voxels but want to play some nice mods. On some download managers and bittorent it is possible to enter the path to the virus scanner, so the specific files will be checked. Maybe you can add such a thing to LaunchBase. Just an idea. Greetings to DCoder: Stop watching porns and continue working on your mix.dll

Bobingabout Wrote:there seems to be no mods nor tools or anything installed...Well, no. Launch Base doesn't come with these, you download them separately. Tools > Browse Mod Catalogue will give access to downloads/links to websites for any mod/tool whose author has provided me with info. Thus far, three entries are in the catalogue - YR Map Packs (which there is a problem with at the moment, granted), YR Playlist Manager and LB Mod Creator (which is also in its beta test stage). More will be added as time goes on. gordon-creAtive Wrote:On some download managers and bittorent it is possible to enter the path to the virus scanner, so the specific files will be checked. Maybe you can add such a thing to LaunchBase. Just an idea. It's possible, but there seems little point to me. If someone isn't particularly computer savvy then they aren't going to know the path to their virus scanner. Decent virus scanners have on-access protection as standard. It also occurs to me that if someone is going to hack things so you end up with the wrong exe, then that exe doesn't have to be infected to cause trouble.

Launch Base
Version 0.99.0012 [2007-10-11] Fixed bug where if you already had one of the mods from the Mod Catalgoue, the Mod Catalogue would crash. Fixed bug where installers executed by Launch Base would incorrectly report that Launch Base was still running. In Mod Catalogue, clicking on a column header in the mod list would reverse the sort order even if it wasn't the current sort column. LB Mod Creator Version 0.99.0004 [2007-10-11] Fixed bug where LB Mod creator thought all files dropped onto the Files tab were actually directories. Fixed bug where <.bag> and <.idx> files could not be dropped onto the sounds folder on the Files tab. Fixed bug where <mouse.sha> could not be dropped onto the shp folder on the Files tab. Redesigned files list on Files tab.

Launch Base
Version 0.99.0013 [2007-10-12] Fixed bug where, if the 'please wait' message was shown, Launch Base would hang. Launch Base Mod Creator Version 0.99.0005 [2007-10-12] Fixed bug where security.lock files (for plugins) would not be generated correctly. I don't think anybody needs version 0.99.0005 of LBMC unless they are experimenting with creating plugins, but the fix in this version means that the new version of YR Map Packs [1.1] will now authenticate correctly. At this point I believe there are only three major issues outstanding: 1. gordon-creAtive cannot get checksums of any files (which means he can't actually install the YR Map Packs, for example, because the plugin can't be authenticated). I need to liase with gordon on this one and maybe send him a separate test program. 2. Renegade's read only folders and access denied errors. 3. Integrate DCoder's mix/bag/csf dll. Just as soon as it is ready. There are also a couple of minor issues and a bunch of things I'm looking at to add various improvements (such as keeping track of downloaded but cancelled setup programs). If anyone believes I have missed anything or has any suggestions for either Launch Base or LB Mod Creator then please let me know. PS. working on adding the UMP to the Mod Catalogue soon.
