I will have to happily disagree with you on the 3d models suggestion. I love next-gen graphics as much as the next guy,..
*but* I love sprites/voxels?.. when thats all thats needed ...plus in 1440x900 they are just beautiful to look at it..without being resource hogs.. I hate how all these new RTS games go for the full-on 3D environment but end up looking worse than their predecessors.. (newer C&C games being cases in point unless you have 5 graphics cards in SLi or whatever they require..)
