...because it's a 22-inch one. I am using a BenQ G2110W monitor. Is there anything I can do to make this not happen? I have already tried looking for the option to change the scaling on it in the NVidia control panel, but I couldn't find that option.

there is something in the NVidia control panel to do it, unfortunately, i can't check right now, because this computer has an intel card, but there should be a bunch of options including "screen's scaling", "stretch to fit", "scale maintaining ratio" and "don't scale", in most cases you want 1 of the last 2, if the screen is for example, stretching 4:3, or worse 5:4 to fit on a 16:10 screen.
hope this helps, if not, i'll have to look it up on 1 of my NVidia machines
