Making crate logic accessible - GMBigB - 08.02.2011

Hello everybody!

I have not done any modding since years, but after some multiplayer sessions I started to continue working on my mod and found this project.

I have a small suggestion, which might be an easy task compared to what I have seen in the preview videos. As far as i know, crate logic is not yet accessible. You can add goodies and you can remove some, but not all. I think its impossible to remove the money crate or unit upgrades. And it is not adjustable how often a certain goodie appears. And I did not manage to use infantry as crate goodies.

Why should one change the crate logic? I like those game modes where you dont start with a base, just with units. Its a welcome change to the normal game. I saw this game mode in several mods, but it is mostly luck, because you have to get the useful crates (tank). This game mode would be more fun, if its possible to just turn off those useless crates (money, medic, map reveal). It reduces the luck factor a little if every crate is just a tank unit or an infantry unit.

Would be nice hear some other opinions.

I had a hard time following what you said but I understand what you mean. You want a way to turn off all the "useless" crates. It would be a cool feature. You could go over to the bug house and request it. http://bugs.renegadeprojects.com/

Thanks for the answers.

It seems most of my suggestions are already possible without any help from ares. It still would be nice to get rid of the hard coded crate conversions to money, but I will check issue 0000453 from time to time... maybe it is implemented one day.

I agree, I hate that I get money instead of a vehicle if I have more than 50 units Bang head against wall
