[split] NPatch compability - TheMan - 13.09.2008

Well could any1 of the 19 tester do my a easy favor? Try one of the new DLLS and se if they are compitable with the newest NPatch.
http://vk.cncguild.net/NPATCH/DATA/NP_AE_0010.exe
Or a DLLs on a modify Mental Omega.

RE: Wanted: Ares testers - DCoder - 13.09.2008

If they are compatible, it's only by accident. Running one exe modification makes sense, running two is a deathwish, just like running two anti-virus products at once.

RE: Wanted: Ares testers - Marshall - 13.09.2008

Further to what DCoder said, even if they are compatible now (which is unlikely), as time goes on and changes are added to both Ares and NPatch, then the two projects will diverge to a greater and greater extent ultimately making it more and more likely that IEs will occur.

Use of Ares with any other third party patch is not recommended or supported, and no time will be devoted to checking the effects of combining Ares with any other third party patch.

RE: Wanted: Ares testers - Black Shadow 750 - 14.09.2008

Since it's better.

RE: Wanted: Ares testers - gordon-creAtive - 14.09.2008

The last three posts are completely offtopic. I request to split them to "NPatch compatibility question" because I'm sure the will be more noobs who will ask the NPatch question.

RE: [split] NPatch compability - pd - 14.09.2008

Done.

Just to confirm, of course, technically, it will all work with NPatch, but the modified logics will interfere in each other and that will not be any fun.
We won't spend any time into making this possible, but I'm thinking of making Ares spit out a warning in case it detects other patches like RockPatch or NPatch.

RE: [split] NPatch compability - Marshall - 15.09.2008

Note that Launch Base already warns if any of the executables have been modified.

RE: [split] NPatch compability - pd - 15.09.2008

Yeah, and that annoys me everytime. Tongue (I always run an exe modified for IDA debugging, hehe).

RE: [split] NPatch compability - Marshall - 15.09.2008

Well then submit a feature request to be able to ignore it!
I'll add an option to the next version (although you can already disable this by turning off 'Validate Checksums' - I will separate this option from normal mod file checksums).

RE: [split] NPatch compability - maestro21 - 28.12.2010

I believe in that, as soon as possible ,there will be no need for old NPatch...Because Ares project is still active...and Ares will handle all of the enhanges and improvements about that NPatch gives (not yet Ares,But as I say: "YET"...) This means, everyone like me ,believe Ares will be much more greater than all...The only problem is Time..and we must be patient only...Ares will have improvements and new logics slowly and perfectly...(Since all of the bugs must be solved perfectly)
Go on ARES...We support you all !!!

Administrative Notice:

While we appreciate the sentiment, reopening a dead thread just for that is not cool.
