- Blade - 02.03.2005 Arrgh, your site only supports MS IE....Why!!!!! BTW, the patch has not been developed yet, this topic is for discussing what we might want to include and depends on what PD includes ultimately in his patch. - Marshall - 02.03.2005 We're still in the process of developing it. When it does get released I imagine we'll want as many mirrors as possible - W3bMa5t3r - 02.03.2005 Ah ok... well I guess that's what I get for not reading the last 4 pages... lol Oh well. I will mirror it when it has been developed. [Blade] Supports IE only, because of the very invalid html coding I have for the menus (the '<TD>' or 'row' or even 'cell' for each item is actually the hyperlink instead of just the text inside the cell)... lol IE is the only browser I've found that allows the invalid code to work like I want. - CannisRabidus - 02.03.2005 W3bMa5t3r;date=Mar 1 2005, 07:51 PM Wrote:Ah ok... well I guess that's what I get for not reading the last 4 pages... lolThere's ways around that, then you won't annoy Blade Nice rides there. Mine goes into hibernation every November, and comes out... well soon I hope *looks out window at the fresh snowfall* - W3bMa5t3r - 03.03.2005 CannisRabidus,Mar 1 2005, 08:36 PM Wrote:There's ways around that, then you won't annoy Blade I'm listening Quote:Nice rides there. Never drive a Mustang in the snow. Mine goes into hibernation every November, and comes out... well soon I hope *looks out window at the fresh snowfall* Well on my 98 Mustang Cobra I have Michellen Pilot Sport All Season tires, so I've actually been able to get around quite well this winter, and we've had decent snowfall for the area (DC Metro). You pay for them, but they are sooo worth it. - Marshall - 03.03.2005 Trying to pull focus back to development... Below is, I believe, the complete list of everything that is left to be done for the YRCP. If anyone has any thoughts/insights/comments/etc into these points (or others), then please post! 1. "Did you restore the smoking animation of an apoc's guns from the original RA2 that dissapeared in YR?" As far as I'm aware, the Apocalypse Tank's rookie firing animation in RA2 does not get played in YR. If this is the case, then we need to know why the problem occurs and how to fix it. 2. Rubble on many buildings is in the wrong palette. What are the problem buildings? Why is it in the wrong palette? Can it be corrected? What's the damage in increased filesize as a result of fixing it? Is it worth fixing? 3. LAND RUSH - yuri's dog situation. With Yuri not having his own Attack Dog, are there any problems at the start of a Land Rush game that need fixing? 4. hidden object indicators on some buildings are screwed up There are so many minor issues and many people don't care. Unless someone else devotes time to fixing this then it's not going to be considered any further. 5. some bridge huts on some maps don't work... provide fixed versions I haven't got time to test everything. If and when someone discovers a problem, could they at least say they've found a problem, and if possible provide a fixed version of the map. [official maps only of course]. 6. fix the maps that have no water but you can still build naval yards See (5.) 7. artmd.ini mistakes - find out if they really do belong in the main fixes The mistakes being referred to are: The entry [NAPSYB] has a flag "CanBeHidden-False". Presumably, the hyphen should be an equals sign. The actual effect in-game has not been tested. The entry [CANWY26] has the flags: DamageFireOffset0=100,-53 DamageFireOffset0-37,33 Presumably, the second line should read "DamageFireOffset1=37,33" although, again, the actual effect in-game has not been tested. 8. port TX fixes: The generic Polish flag seems to me to have a slight blip. This is probably the case with the existing arctic one too. I plan to fix this if neccessary and include it in the YRCP so that it is no longer required in the TX. 9. Implement code for Blade's new Weather Controller shp. 10. TX ini experiment: I shall try including the TX ini files without the TX to see if this stops the reconnection errors between TX-users and non-TX-users. If anyone knows that this won't work then tell me before I waste any time. 11. Cannis' robot control center fixes and other minor changes to the suite of bug fixes and Dev Pack. 12. Finish new improved Dev Pack. (Including CSF, pd patch, credits, other info) 13. Multiple language versions: I need the 1.001 langmd.mix file from each language that we are doing. I also need translators from each language to translate a text file. A possible option here is to just release the English/German version (I'm hoping Renegade will volunteer to provide German langmd and be our translator) and then we can get the community's interest and support to do the other languages after the first release. I also need to test the XCCMC/L CSF diff compression system. Or just ask Olaf. 14. Remove Assault mode, minor super mode, map freedom. The YRCP is adamantly a no-mods patch (at least for now - we may include a mod launcher that provides the mode additions in a later release). 15. Need a decent readme that properly explains how to use the XWIS connection tool. Written for a moron. 16. Update RA2YR Clean Up [because of expandmd02.mix] 17. short readme document explaining the YRCP, any additional components provided, and credits. 18. Write and test installer. 19. In-depth testing of RC by multiple people. 20. Web site and forum devoted to YRCP. 21. Release and pimping of YRCP. - Renegade - 03.03.2005 13.: Renegade volunteers, and, since he is back in full force, has access to his langmd. I will upload it asap. 20.: We're already here and it's no problem setting up a new forum. If there's no reason against it, I'd set up a forum as soon as it is needed. Website: pd's site? Given that there shouldn't be much to say about the patch, I don't think it'll be necessary to have an extra site for it...I mean, what big things would you want on the page? Download, an "about"-text, and perhaps a few screenshots. I'd consider mirrors much more important. 21a.: "Pimping" would include making a decent background-image if we use the Mod Launcher. We need a good idea and a Photoshop-wizard to do it. - Blade - 03.03.2005 Don't use the mod launcher. The patch should look and behave like the 1.001 patch as far as is possible and the mod launcher doesn't really confer any great advantage. The only time it would benefit is if we were adding sounds to audio.bag/idx and even then I'd argue for patching langmd.mix instead. Edit: I'd also suggest that we need to wait for at least some hard coded bugs that affect regular players to be fixed by PD, so there is tangible benefit to including the patch for regular players and not just modders who can point to needing the 1.002 patch for compatibility. We also need PD to change the version number on the main screen of YR to 1.002 as well IMO so it looks even more official. - Marshall - 04.03.2005 I concur. I shouldn't have any problems patching langmd.mix for the CSF updates, provided I get the various language versions. A mod launcher will be used for things like new modes IF and WHEN we decide to include such a component (again, separate from the main YRCP component). Regarding what needs to go in to the YRCP, I agree that some hardcoded bugs definitely need fixing but I'd still release the YRCP without them, given that the ini bugs are still worth having fixed. It would be nice to have "1.002" version number and I think most of you will agree that having just one version of PD's patch, which is only available as part of the YRCP, is a good idea - in that 1.002 users have everything that a 1.002 mod requires without having to get confused over multiple versions of various components. PD may not be keen however, given the "part of the whole" status and slightly increased size. Thoughts? - Renegade - 04.03.2005 About the langmd: A closer look reveals it's 92.2 MB big. This will take about one and a half hours to upload. That does not mean I won't do it, it just means I need to find a fitting time. Probably tomorrow night. - CannisRabidus - 04.03.2005 Quote:2. Rubble on many buildings is in the wrong palette. Quote:3. LAND RUSH - yuri's dog situation. On the CSF and clean-up program - I have some info to send you regarding the music packs. Will do so when I'm not reeling from this damned sinus headache. - Marshall - 04.03.2005 2. Okay. The only obvious one that springs to mind is there's an 8 player map (can't remember the name - it's a single large island with a city) and in the middle is a landmark. It's the Paris Arch thing I think. I can't remember the name (Champs Elyse? ...or not) So I'm thinking just about the buildings that appear on official maps. The Dev Pack should include a list so that modders can correct them if they wish. EDIT: Nevermind. I've just started looking at how many buildings need to be checked. Many. I'll add it to the list of 'as we discover them' (along with map errors). 3. Okay. I've fixed the infantry pips so Land Rush is dealt with now. EDIT: 8. It seems to me that all the flags have a slight blip. It's minor so I'm not going to go through the arduous task of repairing them just yet. This one will go in the list of 'as we discover them'. Unless someone else feels like repairing them... (there are 11 flags and the arctic/generic/u/l/d/t/n all seem to be the same). Poland has no generic (or u/l/d/t/n) but I will include that (fixed or nay) in the YRCP so that it's no longer needed in the TX. Many thanks Cannis. Hope you get well soon! - Big Jah - 05.03.2005 Renegade;date=Mar 3 2005, 11:44 PM; Wrote:21a.: "Pimping" would include making a decent background-image if we use the Mod Launcher. Thanks for the offer though! - Renegade - 06.03.2005 Ph33r me, for I have uploaded 96,735,318 Bytes (92.2 MB) on a 16 KB/s upstream connection! And all of that just for one man and one download.
