RE: Revision  #0035 - Universal - 05.12.2006

I just installed it and I can say that I didnt have any installation problems so I dont know what all that was about ?

RE: Revision  #0035 - VK - 05.12.2006

Quote:That's up to you. Launch Base will take care of it so it's not really neccessary as far as I'm concerned.
But if you do include your own check, please can you tell me if you are using a specific-version rule or a minimum-version rule, so that I canuse the same. Please, also, if you include your own check, can it use the same branched format as Launch Base (e.g. "1.08.0035") ?
I won't add this tag at least in the next version Smile
But remember: it have a lot of changes.

And new help will be supporting only ONE RockPatch version.
So I remove everything like "Minimal version: 1.05 ", "Since RP 1.07", "In RP 1.07" Smile
Except only absolute pages and "Important Changes" page.

For anybody, who need information about early RP versions I upload old RockPatch Help:
Code:
Help file version: 1.03
Patch version: 1.07 (released: 21.10.2005)

RE: Revision  #0035 - Marshall - 06.12.2006

Okay, I have implemented the specific-version rule into Launch Base. It should now be possible to keep multiple versions of the RockPatch on standby in Launch Base too.
The RP-Gen program is about 50% done (I have had to rewrite it take account of various changes discussed here and as a consequence of Launch Base).

RE: Revision  #0035 - VK - 07.12.2006

Quote:RP-Gen program
but what it do?

RE: Revision  #0035 - Nighthawk - 07.12.2006

I'm guessing it makes a gamemd.exe patch based on your edited exe and the original

RE: Revision  #0035 - Marshall - 07.12.2006

RP-Gen creates the RockPatch installer that, up till now, I have been making for pd and now you. This will allow you to create it by providing RP-Gen with the basic files.

RE: Revision  #0035 - Bobingabout - 08.12.2006

IIRC, this includes Rockpatch, V1.001, and the TFD exe files.

RE: Revision  #0035 - Marshall - 08.12.2006

Yes, and the language-specific mix files. The program also needs CnCVK to enter the version number - then he clicks GO and the RP installer will be generated.

RE: Revision  #0035 - VK - 08.12.2006

Quote:the language-specific mix files.
BTW I had written about it:
I don't want to create a different mix files for each language,
ROCKPATCH.MIX will be only English,
for another versions, language-specific rp.csf directly in YR directory.
Quote:The program also needs CnCVK to enter the version number
version number and name Big Grin
pls, don't forget!

RE: Revision  #0035 - Nighthawk - 08.12.2006

Marshall said the program would include the language specific mix files, I think. Also, I think Marshall had decided earlier that LB would just use the version number system, without a string name, and that the name appears on ingame messages, if I'm reading correctly.

RE: Revision  #0035 - Marshall - 08.12.2006

It would be much easier to have language-specific mix files, but if it really is too much hassle for you, CnCVK, then rp.csf it can be.

RE: Revision  #0035 - VK - 09.12.2006

No.
Easy to overwrite file Smile
So:
English version:
ROCKPATCH.MIX contains the English RP.CSF

German version:
ROCKPATCH.MIX contains the English RP.CSF
AND in YR directory the German RP.CSF, which overwrite Smile

etc

good idea, isn't it?

RE: Revision  #0035 - Nighthawk - 10.12.2006

But where would the people get the other-language RP.csf from. Would it not just be easier to have rpeng.mix rpfra.mix rpger.mix rpswe.mix and so on, considering the only file you would have to change in each is the string file. It would save people the trouble of having to download 2 separate files.

No, it isn't. 'cause it requires highest-level overrides. That way, there is no way to override RP.CSF (for whatever reason that might necessary), only to replace it.

RE: Revision  #0035 - Marshall - 10.12.2006

In my mind, it is easier for you to provide RP-Gen with the appropriate mix files - the installer will automatically select the appropriate one. That way, there is only the one extra file in the RA2 folder.
With file patching, only the changes to the english rp.mix are included for the other languages so there is no huge increase in filesize. Also, by including the mix files, there is the possibility for future changes where a lanuage-specific graphic or sound asset can be included.

The only reason not to provide RP-Gen with the mix files is because it's too much hassle for you to do at your end - but it shouldn't take you more than a few minutes to create the mix files.
