In even more different words, I'll need to make use of my freetime on weekends, so even the weekends are limited... =\

- Bobingabout - 09.04.2005

aparantly, he fixed the bug... but he's too busy to do much else

- pd - 10.04.2005

The "missing segment bug" yes, but I already said that above...
I got another bug which I didn't fix and which is the reason I cannot release a patch.

- Bobingabout - 10.04.2005

hmmm, whats the bug do?

- Marshall - 12.04.2005

Hey pd, don't think we're pressuring you - I know as well as anyone right now how much we need our free time.

We just wanna help anyway that we can.

Now you say you fixed a major bug, would that be the one I mentioned above?
And you say there is 'something else' causing a crash, and that is holding up release of the next update.

From what I saw of the bug I mentioned earlier, combined with comments in the rulesmd.ini, I would have first guessed that the problem might lay in the extension of the sight radius. But if the problem you are experiencing is a new problem, then that may not be the case.

Either way, let us know the details of what you've been doing and what the problem is - maybe we'll have a different perspective to offer you that might help. Smile

I'd quickly like to know what kinds of changes I'd need to make to my mod as I go along with it.. I plan to incorporate this patch as part of it. Should I put coding on hold for a bit?

- Bobingabout - 12.04.2005

currently, PD just doesn't "Feel" like it, i was going to try it for him, but he canceled the file transfer...

he's missing the perfect opertunity here, next monday, the computer engineers class has to prove their network works by playing games on it, 1 of the game i managed to convince most of them to play is Yuri's Revenge! so theres the perfect opertunity to beta test my mod Tongue patch too if PD can get it to me before then...

and to help PD, I've been going through the entire exe looking for tags, so i can help him spot things that can make coding some of the recently planned features easier, such as 4th side, and, erm, what else was it?

most things in PDs patch simply won't work in the normal game, but won't Break anything either, so do what i'm doing, simply saying that PDs patch enhances the current mod.

- Marshall - 12.04.2005

Chronojam, there are tutorials on pd's site for how to make use of the new features made possible by the 'Rock Patch'.
Note that the latest version of the patch has a bug that makes it unusable but that should be resolved if and when pd manages to sort out the next release.
The patch itself should eventually be made available through the new 1.002 Community Patch project and/or as a separate download from pd's site (as it is available now).
Either way, you should not distribute the patch with your mod.

- pd - 12.04.2005

That bug is probably fixed and Marshall is currently making a new patcher. Wink

And right, I don't recommend to distribute the patch itself in a mod, but rather add a note that it uses it and/or a link to my DL page, so the mod users are always sure to have the latest version.

EDIT:
1.04b released. I hope all the ingame crashes are gone for good.

- Bobingabout - 12.04.2005

well, when we have a decent patch out that all my mods requirements are met, I'm going to include the patch in my mod, but since the mod installer is modular, it wouldn't be a mandatory componant, so if the user wanted to just play the mod, the patch is there, but if they are a better part of the community, and know theres a newer patch, they don't have to install it.

- CannisRabidus - 12.04.2005

The man wants to avoid version control problems, so do what he wants: link to the source.

- Marshall - 12.04.2005

If the 1.002 Community Patch goes as planned then that will be the standard mod prerequisite - users are expected to download the CP in order to play CP-based mods (i.e. all good mods will be built off the CP because of the bug fix resources it provides, and the Rock Patch).

- Marshall - 12.04.2005

Oh monkey trumpets.

I'm still getting the IE on establishing battlefield control:

- pd - 12.04.2005

Why do I never get such an error?

And that looks like it occurs BEFORE the game starts?
That is more than weird.
Especially because the code where the error occured is unused.
I'm wondering about the value BA7000, which definitely shows that my patch causes the problem.

I really don't have any idea what that should be Unhappy
Any special settings set? New countries? Others? Hm...

- Marshall - 12.04.2005

I get the problem with unmodded YR as well as with my mod active.

Can anyone else running the latest version say if they have the problem or not?
