i have no idea.
the only main problem i can think of is it not allowing you to save, because the only place programs can access by default is the my documents folder, and YR saves in the game folder.

somebody has to try that.
making savegames be saved in my documens should be an easy hack.

i only know about this save issue from OpenTTD, because some people over there tried it with vista, and it wouldn't let them save. they had to change about half the security options just to allow saving.
not to mention all the settings it saves, like ra2md.ini.
for that matter, rock patch might even be blocked from patching GAMEMD.EXE in vista...

1) I think on Windows Vista 32-bit (x86), YR are working
2) About security:
You can set the same security settings in Windows XP,
and game can't write to RA2MD.INI
3) YR isn't working on Windows XP x64 Edition
one error at startup
4) I think YR isn't working on Windows Vista 64-bit (x64)
BTW, Some time ago, I planned some re-update different C&C games:
like: x64 YR Patch, Red Alert 800x600 instead of 640x480,
RULES.INI support for Tiberian Dawn.
But now, I don't want to do it, except x64 YR Patch
because it's very old, and more easyly write own game instead of edition old C&C games.

Surely the Vista security settings can be modified to allow the game to work properly..

or read settings from ini file

Not quite sure what you mean by 'read settings from ini file'.
LB options are already read from an ini file. Theres no way I could make the way the program works customisable.
As for auto-update, LB will be included in the Check For Updates facility.

cool
23.12.2006, 15:26:21
Yes, but is it x32 or x64, because in x64 YR don't work properly. At least not for me.

x86

x86 it should have minimal problems, however i have an x64 CPU, i need an OS for it 1 that will allow all my existing x86 programs to work
26.12.2006, 13:05:29
which Windows Vista will hopefully be... otherwise almost no game released before 2007 will be compatible to it
