I downloaded Red Alert 2 from http://xwis.net/downloads/

Is there anything I forgot to mention?

Did you update it to 1.006?

What? Is that even a legal distribution?

Worth playing: 1 | 2 | 3

@Renegade: The installer appears to come with version 1.006 (it says so in the main menu).

@DCoder: It was made by Olaf so I guess so, the installer doesn't ask for any serials but with XWIS' new (and retarded) login/registering system you'll have to register a name online via the XWIS control panel and associate it with a legit serial. The campaign doesn't work (which might be why Launch Base gives the error message).

I've asked my brother if he has non-broken Red Alert 2 CDs and he gave me working ISOs that he made RA2 a few years ago, so I got Launch Base running.

In other words, the weird-ass cracked XWIS version is the issue, not LB?

Yup Launch Base works perfectly fine (tested the Red Ares mod with it and the UMP+plugins). LB's checks apparently refuse it to load.

Launch Base gives this error when you have no registry entries of any kind. Neither original nor TFD.
Ever wondered what the hell is going on?
Believe me friend you're not the only one.

Check out Launch Base for RA2/YR - http://marshall.strategy-x.com
Also home to the Purple Alert mod, 1.002 UMP, and the YR Playlist Manager.
