Resource\btnb0.bmp not found, LB won't run--Right after I installed it
#1
Upon installing Launch Base, I Go to run it and an internal error pops up(from the except):

Internal Error
Date: 2010-04-20
Time: 17:41:14
Error: 53
Description: File not found: 'C:\Westwood\RA2\LaunchBase\Resource\btnb0.bmp'

Return stack:
frmMain.Init()

Newly installed no less.
Ok, so maybe The insaller was corrupted upon download, or the installer sort of forgot to install that resource for it.

I watch it install all the little files in the "details" window
And it apparently "forgets" that it installed that particular file 5 more installs later.

So, what just happened? Is there anyone else who has had this particular problem?

Hi Xovvo,

a quick fix: Open up Notepad or your favorite text editor as administrator and open "LaunchBase.ini". Add a new line "SelectedMod0=originalra2" (without quotes) under the [General] section. Save and launch LB.

That seems to have worked.
Why in the hell does something so seemingly unrelated fix that problem?

Seems like an initialisation problem. I don't know the source code, so I have no idea why this bitmap would only be used for setting up the application and not during normal operation.

Hm. Oh well. It works. Thank you!

Apologies Xovvo, and thanks Alex for that quick work around.

I'll try to get a fixed version out tonight but I'm away for the next week so may not be able to.
Ever wondered what the hell is going on?
Believe me friend you're not the only one.

Hi Marshall,
theres one more thing. In chat Vailreth told he discovered that updating Ares while having its documentation open results in a access denied error. And while trying to find out what's happening I made the Ares files readonly. This resulted in the same kind of error, but with a different cause.

Version 248 fixes the original problem.

The documentation-open-causes-access-denied error I'll have to look at next week.

Thanks guys!

I cannot reproduce the access denied error with the help topics open.

Where is the access denied error occurring? In LB or in the setup program?

Can you tell me the exact steps to reproduce?

It might be a Vista/W7 specific problem.

It's the Ares pdf documentation. Open it in Adobe Reader or something, then update.

And, if you know there's a new version, write-protect Ares.dll or any other file to be updated. LB won't remove the readonly attribute.
