DFD: Daily Feature Deathmatch

The Cruel Fight For Implementation

This is a Daily Feature Deathmatch post. If you are unfamiliar with the background of this event, please read the announcement and the schedule.

Fight 1

[0000726] Configurable chrono sphere radius vs. [0000316] Ammo= on weapons

Fight 2

[0000670] Reducing range in certain buildings vs. [0000375] BuiltAs= function for units to randomly give you one of several variations (see description)

By the end of the 48 hour period, two of these issues will be suspended, while the other two move on to the next round.
Remember that the coders will not take part in the discussion, so make your arguments complete, concise and convincing - when it's over, it's over.

Part of that is clearly marking what outcome you support for which issue.
There should be no ambiguity in the issue you're talking about, and it should be clear what outcome you support. Feel free to put your stance in bold, and use simple terminology like "kill #69" or "I want #42 to survive".
A decision will be made either way, so a lack of discussion will not cause all issues to live.

Be friendly, be civil, be logical.
You are allowed to try to deconstruct the arguments of those arguing against your candidate, but remember that they don't make the call - there is really no point in getting personal.

The discussion should be contained in this thread, argumentations elsewhere will be ignored, but you are allowed to transfer and adapt points made elsewhere in the past.

We want a good, clean fight.
Let's get it on! Dual M16

RE: DFD: 726 vs. 316, 670 vs. 375 - Beowulf - 02.07.2010

Kill 726... 316 is FAR more useful.
Kill 670... it doesn't make sense. 375 will be used more anyway.

Completely agree on both accounts.

#726 can only be of any use in mods that feature the chrono sphere, whereas Ammo= on weapons can be useful for ANY kind of mod.
So kill #726.

#670 is (just like #726) of very limited and restricted use. #375 sounds more interesting, something I would possibly make use of in my mod(s). Kill #670.

pretty much this.

both the surviving features are far more useful.

RE: DFD: 726 vs. 316, 670 vs. 375 - Speeder - 02.07.2010

I'm not that much interested in the first set, but 316 is indeed more useful than 726, so kill 726.

As for the second choice, I strongly support 375 because variations of a certain unit it something I liked in Generals for Technicals and I'd love to see it in Yuri's Revenge. I also enjoy good eye candy-related improvements. Kill 670.

RE: DFD: 726 vs. 316, 670 vs. 375 - FS-21 - 02.07.2010

I vote for 316 & 375. Kill 726 & 670.

316 can be very versatile (since the typical ammo limitations of any of the weapons until graphical charge indicators of weapons that has a large ROF) & 375 has more sense than 670.

RE: DFD: 726 vs. 316, 670 vs. 375 - Marshall - 02.07.2010

I concur with the above sentiments.
Support 316
Support 375
Kill 726
Kill 670

726 vs. 316: This is the hardest choice in the until now issues, but 316 wins - being more useful as well as my feature.
670 vs. 375 I have no real interest in any of these, but I think 670 is better.

RE: DFD: 726 vs. 316, 670 vs. 375 - jimmy3421 - 03.07.2010

726 and 670 need to SAY "GOOD BYE"Wink
My reason is the same as others

RE: DFD: 726 vs. 316, 670 vs. 375 - Darkstorm - 03.07.2010

316 seems to be plenty more useful then 726, which is a simple change (of course on the outside).

While 670 is my request, I'd have to say I like 375 better.

RE: DFD: 726 vs. 316, 670 vs. 375 - Drogan - 03.07.2010

I'd say 316 and 375,
I don't really see much usefulness in 726 and 670 compared to above.

Alright, there hasn't been a new post here in over a day, and the consensus is pretty clear, so I guess we'll wrap this up. LOL

I'll run with the pack and repeat Beowulf's argumentation, as it is concise and hits the nail on the head:

Edit: D has requested to be excused from writing a formal opinion, since, quote, "it's pretty obvious".

RE: DFD: 726 vs. 316, 670 vs. 375 - AlexB - 04.07.2010

Well. Time to judge. Two of the fighters lowered their defenses and were punched in the face for about two days.
Indeed a clean K.O. in both cases. Ammo= and BuiltAs= win.

RE: DFD: 726 vs. 316, 670 vs. 375 - Renegade - 04.07.2010

And thus it is settled.

Results:
#726 (Radius): kill, kill, kill - kill
#316 (Ammo): support, support, support - support
#670 (Range): kill, kill, kill - kill
#375 (BuiltAs): support, support, support - support
