A new version of the Lauch Base beta has been released.

Version 0.99.228 [2009-05-03]
  • Improved Options window.
  • New 'Verify Plugin Security Keys' option so you can disable this if you want to (don't disable this).
  • You can now view details about which mods' update checks failed. Click on the link in the top-right corner of the window after an update check.
  • In Check For Updates, plugins that you already had the latest version for were being listed under 'New Mods' instead of 'Installed Mods'. Fixed.
  • Added a 'Residual File Manager' module (only available in Advanced Mode). See Help Topics for details.
  • Added support for string tables. Launch Base can now merge CSF and TXT files provided by a mod. However, MIX file capabilities have not yet been added so the original ra2md.csf file is still inaccessible by Launch Base for now.
  • Launch Base will now add all the labels used by the YRPM to a mod's CSF file automatically. This cannot be overridden, however a mod's own versions of those labels will be used in preference to the YRPM standard. This may be changed in future.
  • New 'Loose File Mode' option if, for some bizarre reason, you didn't want Launch Base to generate MIX files. This option will be used automatically whilst Launch Base does not have MIX file capabilities. Note that some files don't work outside of MIX files (e.g. sidebar graphics).
  • Fixed bug where log file would say "Creating LaunchBase\Backup" regardless of what the actual path was that was being created.
  • Fixed bug where Launch Base would delete Syringe after unpacking it, despite claiming that Syringe had been updated okay.

Edited by Renegade: Took the liberty of adding some formatting - original post was a little hard to read.
Launch base refuses to auto update to ther new version, despite references to the contrary.
Can you elaborate? I've tested the update process and installer and they appear to be working fine.
What messages do you get? Exactly what does/doesn't happen?
I had a slight issue whereby LaunchBase itself didn't close when the installer was running, and thus it couldn't update any files. However, I just solved that by exiting the "Either LaunchBase or an installer is already running" popup that had appeared behind the installer. Maybe the same thing's happening here.

the auto update just fails to kick in, it's like I've got the latest version when I haven't.

downloading manually.
Did you get this sorted? What did the log file say when starting Launch Base? What does it say now? There should be some indication that it was checking for updates and what the result of the check was...
2009-05-04 02:21:52 Checking for updates to Launch Base...
2009-05-04 02:21:53 No updates available - Launch Base is up to date.

quite how I'm not sure, but yeah.
In Windows, Internet Options > Temporary Internet Files > Settings
What option is selected under "Check for newer versions of stored pages"?
It should say "every visit to the page" in order for LB to work.

"every visit".

I'll try clearing the cache, but I do that regular, so I doubt it's that.
A new version has just been released. Does the auto update still say that you're up-to-date?
This is via the normal startup procedure?
What about via the Check For Updates facility - does that also say that you're up-to-date?
yeah it downloaded fine.

I'd assume it was a temp problem with 227.
